Former Barcelona president, Joan Laporta, in an interview with “RAC 1” last weekend noted that he will do everything to retain Lionel Messi as he spawns one-third of Barca’s income.
Joan Laporta, who is seeking to regain his presidency post has noted that the Barcelona striker feels happy in the club and he will do everything within his power, just as he did in 2017 to keep Leo.
“It is not about economic return but also about emotional and sporting return, and the vivid moments he gives us”, Laporta said.
The president sent a message to the player telling him not to take any note of the news published by El Mundo as the club intends to sue El Mundo and the Barca fans do not want him to leave.
“To imply that Barca is ruined because of Messi is an absolutely erroneous conclusion”, he said.
The former president further informed that they made a study and it turns out that the striker generates about a third of Barca’s income.
“I will do everything to keep Messi in Barca. I have had signals that he is happy in Barcelona, that he wants to stay”, Laporta reiterated.
